Concept for an app to solve the issue of the time it takes to make dinner. Research for this project included:
A total of 9 interviews
Analyzed interview data using affinity charting to define a problem statement
Completed a heuristic evaluation of Save-on-Foods App Research
User testing and feedback
Problem Statement
Help people living in the Metro Vancouver area who cook for their household save time making dinner.
Solution
The app is like Save-on-Foods and Instacart but primarily for people living in the Metro Vancouver area who love to cook, solve the issue of time spent on washing and preparing fresh food needed to make dinner. There are many apps that target this problem, such as Skip the Dishes and Door Dash. There are also meal kit programs such as Hello Fresh and Goodfood. When I asked interviewees about these, they felt the meal kit programs were very pricey and wasteful. Some interviewees didn’t like the set meals as they didn’t fit with their diets. The feedback I got on Skip the Dishes and Door Dash is that they are for ‘cheat meals,’ not everyday healthy eating.
The app idea takes the prep work out of home cooking to allow users to focus on the fun part, cooking! A bonus, without washing and preparing all the ingredients, the user has fewer dirty dishes. Foods that would be available on the app include fresh vegetables, fruit, marinated meats, seafood, dairy, and herbs and spices.
